Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

LMTDC3002A - Dry clean garments with special treatment requirements

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Determine dry cleaning requirements

  1. Garment is analysed to identify fabric, trim and features that require special processing
  2. Garment labelling is interpreted
  3. Spotting requirements of garment are identified
  4. Customer requirements are identified
  5. Dry cleaning processes for garment are determined
  6. Information is sought to support skill development when garment dry cleaning requirements are difficult to identify
  7. Dry cleaning requirements are documented and where required communicated with team members

Instructions to Assessors

Evidence Guide

The Evidence Guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the Performance Criteria, Required Skills and Knowledge, the Range Statement and the Assessment Guidelines for the Training Package.

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Demonstrates skills and knowledge to:

interpret dry cleaning requirements for complex garments

handle complex garments

select and apply processes

monitor and complete dry cleaning operation

Consistently applies skills and knowledge when:

organising work

completing tasks

identifying improvements

using workplace practices

using OHS practices

recording and reporting accidents and incidents

assessing operational readiness of equipment used and work processes

recognising and adapting to cultural differences in the workplace, including modes of behaviour and interactions

completing work systematically with attention to detail without damage to goods and equipment

Context and specific resources for assessment

Assessment may occur on the job or in an appropriately simulated environment and requires access to work areas, materials and equipment and to information on workplace practices and OHS practices.

Guidance information for assessment

This unit may be assessed independently or in combination with other relevant units.
